Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Risk Engineer for the US Energy team. You will conduct on-site surveys and desktop reviews of conventional power and renewable energy risks, translating findings into actionable risk assessments to guide underwriting decisions.

You will collaborate with underwriting and claims professionals, analyze risk quality, and identify mitigation opportunities across a growing portfolio. Travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree or equivalent.
• At least five years’ experience in relevant process industries.
• Ability to break down complex technical exposures for stakeholders.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with underwriters, risk engineers, claims, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site risk engineering surveys and desktop reviews for conventional and renewable energy risks.
• Evaluate operations and construction projects, including large exposures.
• Translate technical findings into clear risk assessments to support underwriting decisions.
• Serve as a technical resource to US Underwriters, Claims teams, and insureds.
• Identify loss drivers and mitigation opportunities across portfolios.
• Travel regularly to client sites and perform risk appraisals as needed.
