Job summary

Liberty Mutual invites a Risk Engineer to join the US Energy team. The role focuses on evaluating conventional power and renewable energy risks through on-site surveys and desktop reviews, partnering with Underwriting and Claims to turn technical exposures into confident decisions.

You will own risk assessments, stay current with technology and loss prevention practices, and support business development across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in a technical discipline.
• Five years of experience in relevant process industries with operations, maintenance, or loss prevention.
• Insurance experience is beneficial but not required.
• Strong communication and listening skills to work with underwriters, claims teams, and clients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for reports and analyses.
• Ability to create and modify documents and complex spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site risk engineering surveys and desktop reviews for conventional power and renewable energy risks.
• Evaluate and analyze operational plants and construction projects, including large exposures.
• Translate technical findings into clear, actionable risk assessments to support underwriting decisions.
• Serve as a technical resource for US Underwriters, Claims teams, and insureds.
• Identify risk drivers and propose practical mitigation strategies; support claims analysis.
• Travel regularly to perform surveys and maintain risk engineering files.
