Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. is seeking a Markets Research and Development Senior Engineer to shape energy market and grid-operations solutions.

You will apply power engineering and optimization techniques, build modeling tools, and analyze data from multiple sources to support strategic decisions. The role involves collaboration with engineers, analysts, and researchers, plus partners across business units and external labs.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in electrical/computer engineering or related field.
• Master’s or PhD preferred.
• Experience in electricity market design, operations, or research and development; electricity market analysis; or system planning and development in the energy industry (required).
• Previous design and development of software systems for electricity markets (preferred).
• Understanding of electricity market principles, tariffs, regulations, and NERC/FERC compliance.
• Experience in quantitative analysis, optimization algorithms, and mathematical modeling.

Responsabilidades

• Apply power engineering or operations research techniques to analyze complex data, evaluate multiple solutions, and recommend actions.
• Develop and maintain computer modeling tools, execute simulations, and analyze results to support decision-making.
• Gather, preprocess, and examine energy market or infrastructure data from multiple sources to drive accurate analysis and reporting.
• Utilize optimization, power engineering, control theory, and analytical techniques to develop algorithms and innovative solutions.
• Document findings through reports, charts, and presentations to communicate insights effectively and accurately.
• Collaborate with business teams, university researchers, and national labs to develop innovative solutions using simulations and analysis.
• Partner with market design, operations, internal stakeholders, and external research organizations to advance solutions from concept to production with measurable value.
