Job summary

MISO is seeking a Markets Research and Development Senior Engineer to tackle complex challenges in electricity markets, operations, and infrastructure systems. You will work with engineers, analysts, and operators to apply engineering and operations research techniques, develop prototypes, and support data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities include modeling, simulations, and collaboration with partners to advance solutions from concept to production, delivering measurable value to MISO processes

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work experience in electricity markets, operations, or research and development.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or related engineering field; Master's/PhD preferred.
• Experience with electricity market analysis, system planning, or market design is required.
• Experience designing and developing software for electricity markets is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Apply power engineering or operations research techniques to analyze data and evaluate solutions.
• Develop and maintain modeling tools, run simulations, and analyze results for decision-making.
• Gather and preprocess energy market data from multiple sources for reporting.
• Utilize optimization, control theory, and analytical methods to create algorithms and innovative solutions.
• Document findings with reports, charts, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams, researchers, and external partners to advance solutions from concept to production.
