Job summary

Avant Energy seeks a Senior Market Operations Analyst to support daily operation and optimization of wholesale electricity generation portfolios. You will report to the Director of Market Operations and contribute to strategic decisions while collaborating with a fast-paced team.

This role requires analytical acumen, energy market knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple projects with varying complexity. A collaborative, calm, and results-driven mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or related area.
• 3+ years in business analysis using analytical methods and tools.
• Experience in analytics, market operations, asset management, or energy industries preferred.
• Strong knowledge of data analysis and statistics from work or internships.
• Advanced Excel; VBA, SQL, Python, R, Power BI or similar tools a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze generation market offer strategies.
• Optimize value of generation portfolios.
• Execute energy market transactions.
• Support asset management activities.
• Perform quantitative analysis and develop operational reports.
• Learn regional electricity market rules and operations.
• Participate in on-call rotation after training.
• Contribute to knowledge development of energy markets.
• Lead analytical projects and mentor junior staff.
