Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an energy geoscientist to lead integrated subsurface assessment for enhanced geothermal systems and other energy applications. The role involves integrating diverse datasets, developing defensible 3D models, and translating them into reservoir simulations to evaluate performance and risk.

The ideal candidate will have MS/PhD in a geoscience field, strong experience in reservoir modeling, and a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, with eligibility

Qualifications

• Level 4: MS in geology/geophysics/geological engineering/earth science with 6+ years in subsurface geoscience or a PhD with 4+ years.
• Level 5: MS in geology/geophysics/geological engineering/earth science with 8+ years in subsurface geoscience or a PhD with 6+ years.
• Experience engaging program sponsors at DOE, industry and other federal agencies.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary subsurface teams through multi-year research or field-development projects.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance (US Citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Lead geologic assessment and integration of subsurface datasets for geothermal and energy-resource systems.
• Lead development of 3D earth and conceptual models including lithology, structure, fractures, and key uncertainties.
• Lead reservoir simulation, calibration, and uncertainty analysis to evaluate resource performance and development options.
• Contribute to long-term R&D strategy and secure funding through proposals and industry partnerships.
• Publish peer-reviewed articles and present results to sponsors and peers.
• Other duties as assigned.
