Job summary

PSEG Long Island in New York is seeking an experienced analytics professional to provide analytical support to the Power System Management organization. You will forecast electricity use for 1.1 million customers, collaborate with Finance and NYISO, and become a SME capable of coaching others.

The role involves leading variance analyses, regulatory testimony, and development of models for reliability planning and peak demand. Strong econometric and programming skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in quantitative analysis.
• Thorough capabilities in econometric modeling.
• Demonstrated ability to design and use complex spreadsheets.
• Highly developed programming skills in SAS or similar statistical analysis software.
• Proficient in MS Office Tools.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor electricity use, weather, economic and demographic results and develop variance analyses for reporting monthly.
• Participate on NYISO Load Forecasting Task Force to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare written testimony and exhibits supporting load forecast for DPS Rate Cases.
• Respond to requests from authorities for historical and forecasted data and analyses.
• Develop regression models for weather normalization and probabilistic distribution of System Peak Demand.
• Create spatial load, load pocket, feeder and extreme weather forecast projections to support DSIP goals.
• Prepare operational analyses and provide recommendations for deployment of real-time peak load reduction programs.
• Support regulatory proceedings and forecast requirements for various budgets and ISO filings including FERC 715.
• Develop hourly electric load simulations for economic dispatch production cost modeling.
• Support other PSEG LI organizations by providing expertise in applied mathematics.
