Job summary

ERM is seeking an experienced Consultant, Scientist to deliver environmental and sustainability solutions for clients in the energy sector, including wetlands, stormwater, NPDES, and wastewater programs. You will perform fieldwork, prepare plans and reports, and help ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with project managers on complex projects.

Based in Hartford, CT, you will travel to client locations as needed and contribute to high‑quality technical services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental studies, or related science discipline or equivalent experience (8+ years).
• 2-3 years (5 years preferred) of environmental consulting experience and/or professional internships.
• Strong commitment to health and safety in both field and office environments.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and interpret technical data.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on environmental impact assessments and sustainability‑related projects.
• Prepare plans, permits, and reports related to wetlands, stormwater, NPDES, and wastewater programs.
• Conduct environmental compliance assessments and support implementation of corrective actions to meet federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform fieldwork, including ecological field studies and site assessments.
• Deliver general environmental compliance support, including on‑site client assistance as needed.
• Compile, evaluate, and interpret environmental data; contribute to high‑quality technical report preparation.
• Execute project tasks within scope, budget, and schedule expectations while meeting ERM’s quality standards.
• Collaborate with Partners‑in‑Charge and Project Managers to deliver exceptional client value and project outcomes.
