Orion Placement in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a senior attorney to lead sophisticated employment litigation for employers ranging from growing businesses to Fortune 500 companies. The role involves strategy development, ownership of execution, and frequent collaboration with relationship partners in a boutique, flexible environment.

Candidates must be active California Bar members with 6+ years of CA labor and employment experience, including class actions, PAGA, and FEHA-related matters.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar membership in good standing.
• 6+ years of California labor and employment litigation experience.
• Ability to independently manage significant litigation matters.
• Experience handling complex class actions and PAGA matters.
• Experience with class certification, dispositive motions, expert discovery, and trial preparation.
• Experience handling single-plaintiff FEHA-related claims.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.
• Sound judgment, initiative, and a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead single-plaintiff, class action, collective action, and PAGA matters through all phases of litigation.
• Develop litigation strategy with relationship partners and take ownership of execution.
• Direct discovery and take and defend depositions.
• Work closely with expert witnesses on sophisticated employment matters.
• Draft and argue dispositive and other significant motions.
• Appear in court and represent clients in trial and arbitration proceedings.
• Lead settlement negotiations and advocate for clients during mediations.
• Prepare complex matters for trial and arbitration.
• Advise employer clients on litigation strategy, employment issues, and risk.
• Build trusted client relationships while independently managing significant matters.
