Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an experienced Employment Counsel to provide frontline legal support for performance management, policy questions, and exits across the company.

You will advise on international employment matters, coordinate with outside counsel, and help manage employment agreements and relocations using templates. The role includes AI tool deployment governance and pay-equity compliance work.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar membership and 5+ years of employment law experience, including meaningful in-house experience advising HR business partners.
• Strong U.S. advice-and-counsel experience across performance management, terminations, accommodations and leaves.
• Hands-on experience with employment litigation and administrative charges, including position statements and discovery.
• Working knowledge of U.S. HR compliance requirements (EEO-1, OFCCP, pay equity) and awareness of AI regulatory landscape.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own a people relations counseling portfolio, providing first-line legal support on performance management, disciplinary processes, accommodations, policy questions, and exits across the full company.
• Advise on international employment matters across our 20+ country footprint, partnering with outside local counsel and HR on cross-border questions.
• Support employment agreement workflows, including offer letter review and relocation agreements using established templates.
• Drive compliance support for AI tool deployments in recruiting and HR, reviewing against Coinbase's AI employment law framework.
• Partner with the People team on HR compliance matters, including EEO-1 reporting and pay equity.
• Support employment litigation and administrative proceedings, including EEOC statements and discovery.
• Track employment law developments and translate into practical guidance for HR partners.
