Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an Employment Counsel to join the Employment Legal team. You will counsel across the global workforce, handle performance and disciplinary matters, and advise on cross-border employment issues for 20+ countries.

You will manage employment agreement workflows, assist with HR compliance, and drive AI-tool governance in recruiting and employment law. The role requires a J.D. with active U.S. bar and 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar and 5+ years of employment law experience.
• In-house counsel experience advising HR on the full range of employment matters.
• Experience with employment litigation and administrative charges.

Responsibilities

• Own a people-relations counseling portfolio covering performance management, disciplinary matters, accommodations, policy questions, and exits.
• Advise on international employment matters across our 20+ country footprint, partnering with outside local counsel and HR on cross-border questions.
• Support employment agreement workflows, including offer letters, standard separation, transfer letters, and relocation agreements, using established templates.
• Drive tactical compliance support for AI tools in recruiting and HR, reviewing deployments against the AI employment law framework.
• Partner with HR on compliance matters including EEO-1 reporting, OFCCP obligations, and pay equity, contributing to global compliance.
• Support employment litigation and administrative proceedings, including EEOC position statements and discovery coordination.
• Track employment law developments and turn them into practical guidance for HR partners.
