Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a seasoned emergency management leader to serve as the Community Engagement and Preparedness Lead. This senior role owns the Community Engagement and Special Events program, shaping how residents, businesses, and partners prepare for, are warned about, and recover from emergencies.

You will supervise staff, build relationships with diverse communities, and support the Joint Emergency Operations Center (JEOC) during activations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public administration, communications, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible emergency management experience for a large state or local government organization.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a technician-level amateur radio license.

Responsibilities

• Leads the Community Engagement and Preparedness program and sets annual goals and metrics.
• Supervises and develops assigned Emergency Management Officers and interns.
• Leads ReadyFW program and citywide preparedness campaigns; develops presentations and digital content.
• Builds partnerships with neighborhoods, faith-based groups, schools, hospitals, and businesses.
• Oversees enrollment and outreach for mass notification and public warning tools; coordinates with PIO.
• Leads emergency management planning for large special events and supports JEOC activations.
• Resolves emergencies during 24/7 Duty Officer rotations and JEOC activations.
• Tracks outreach metrics, maintains records, and handles procurement.
