Job summary

City of Fort Worth seeks an experienced Emergency Communications Center Supervisor to lead the ECC, ensuring timely, professional public safety services. The role demands a decisive, people-focused leader who can guide operations under pressure and develop a high-performing team.

Qualifications include 5+ years in emergency communications with supervisory experience, TCOLE CTO, and CJIS/TLETS familiarity. This is a 24/7 operation with equity and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED required.
• Five (5) years of responsible public safety emergency response and dispatch experience, including one (1) year of team lead or supervisory experience.
• Must possess a current Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Advanced or above Telecommunicator Proficiency Certification (or out of state equivalent) at time of job offer.
• Must be a Certified Communications Training Officer (CTO) at time of job
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a TCOLE Instructor Certification within one (1) year from time of job offer.
• Pass a drug screening.
• Pass a psychologist/psychiatrist examination per state requirements.
• Must meet TCOLE & CJIS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates Public Safety Communicator activities to ensure ECC operations and professional service delivery.
• Oversees daily operations: monitor calls, radio traffic, incidents, staffing, and performance; allocate resources to maintain service continuity.
• Directs operations during critical incidents and disasters; coordinates staffing, callbacks, and interagency communications.
• Manages staffing and administrative functions: schedules, overtime, payroll approval, documentation, supervisory records.
• Provides leadership and coaching to develop employees and sustain a professional workplace culture.
