Job summary

The City of Fort Worth's Emergency Management & Communications Department seeks an experienced Emergency Communications Center Supervisor to lead our ECC team. You will oversee 24/7 operations, ensure timely, professional public safety communications, and drive performance improvements in a high-stakes environment.

Key responsibilities include supervising daily dispatch, coordinating interagency contacts, and developing staff while maintaining regulatory compliance and readiness of critical

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of responsible public safety emergency response and dispatch experience, including 1 year in a lead/supervisory role.
• Current TCOLE Advanced or higher Telecommunicator Proficiency Certification required at offer time.
• Must be Certified Communications Training Officer (CTO) at time of job offer.
• Must possess or obtain TCOLE Instructor Certification within 1 year of offer.
• Drug screening required.
• Psychological examination required by licensed professional.
• Meet TCOLE & CJIS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates Public Safety Communicator activities for ECC operations.
• Oversees daily operations: monitor emergency calls, radio traffic, staffing; allocate resources.
• Directs operations during critical incidents and emergencies; coordinates staffing and interagency communications.
• Manages staffing and administrative functions: schedules, overtime, payroll approvals, documents.
• Provides leadership, coaching, and employee development; fosters a professional, respectful workplace.
• Monitors performance, identifies trends, implements improvements for efficiency and public safety.
• Ensures compliance with laws, TCOLE, CJIS, and related procedures.
• Maintains readiness of E911/NG911, CAD, radio and CJIS systems; coordinates tech support.
• Supports department priorities and continuous improvement initiatives.
