Job summary

Venturi Astrolab, Inc. in Hawthorne, California, seeks an EMC Engineer to ensure avionics withstand the harsh electromagnetic environment of interplanetary space.

You will help define design criteria for state-of-the-art avionics and electro-mechanical systems with a strong focus on EMI/EMC, in-space charging effects, and interdisciplinary requirements. You will collaborate across engineering teams, analyze grounding and shielding, troubleshoot EMI issues, and contribute to system-level designs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of EMI/EMC requirements, analysis, design and testing for spacecraft or avionics.
  • Proficient with lab equipment and test instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and EMC standards and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture requirements and lead EMI/EMC design trades.
  • Analyze grounding, shielding, emissions, susceptibility and RF compatibility.
  • Troubleshoot EMI issues from board to system level.
  • Operate EMI/RF test equipment and perform in-house EMC testing.
  • Create and update documentation including diagrams, procedures and test reports.
  • Support flight hardware qualification and spacecraft integration testing.
