General Motors is seeking a Power Electronics EMC Technical Specialist to lead electromagnetic compatibility engineering for Power Electronics & Traction Inverter hardware. The role blends hands-on leadership with design guidance across components and vehicle-level EMC, working with internal teams, suppliers, and leadership.

You will develop mitigation strategies, lead root-cause investigations, and drive robust designs from concept through production at GM's Estes Engineering Center.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on hardware experience with HV power electronics, AC/DC/DC-DC converters, inverters, or electric-drive systems.
• Strong expertise in EMC (EMI/ immunity, grounding, shielding, testing).
• Experience designing/validating EMC for power electronics or electric drives.
• Experience with EMC modeling/simulation and correlating with measurements.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Aufgaben

• Define and lead EMC design strategies for Power Electronics & Traction Inverters, including requirements decomposition, risk assessment, design development, peer reviews, and validation planning.
• Develop and apply EMC models to predict coupling paths, shielding, grounding, and emissions at component and vehicle levels.
• Guide hardware design decisions for power modules, busbars, PCBs, enclosures, filters, shielding, and connectors.
• Lead EMC mitigation activities across the design lifecycle, balancing performance, thermal, packaging, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and timing.
• Develop EMC load box and EMC test plan per GM standards; schedule and document EMC testing.
• Lead root-cause investigations (PRTS) for EMI/Susceptibility issues using data, DOE, and engineering judgment.
• Establish countermeasures and verify through testing and correlation with lab and vehicle results.
• Mentor engineers to raise GM's capability in power-electronics EMC.
