Job summary

Meta is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware for AR/VR devices and wearables. You will work on low-level systems, device drivers, and wireless connectivity, collaborating across hardware, software, and product teams.

You will drive silicon integration, performance tuning, and feature development for sensing, imaging, haptics, and audio prototypes, with focus on Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and Android platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/CE or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience; PhD with 4+ years acceptable.
• 3+ years in embedded software development in industry settings.
• Experience in large-scale C/C++ code bases.
• Experience leading technical work streams and teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software components across system layers, including kernel and I/O.
• Develop drivers and services for constrained environments with high data throughput.
• Lead hardware bring up, peripheral drivers, silicon integration, power management.
• Debug multi-component, system-level issues spanning kernel to app.
• Profile and optimize performance across the software stack.
• Integrate components from partner teams into a cohesive product code base.
• Develop/debug firmware for devices with sensing, imaging, haptics, audio.
• Collaborate with teams on wireless stacks (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, UWB).
• Enhance systems with wireless interfaces and support QA/manufacturing.
