Job summary

Meta is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware for AR/VR and wearable devices. You will work on kernel, drivers, and connectivity protocols (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Core Android networking) across cross‑functional teams.

You will tackle performance profiling, hardware bring up, and integration of components from partner teams, with opportunities in computer vision, ML, and graphics to push the future of immersive experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 7+ years software development experience or PhD with 4+ years
• 3+ years embedded software development experience
• Experience in large-scale C/C++ code bases
• Experience defining and driving technical work streams and providing leadership

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software components at all system layers (kernel, synchronization primitives, memory management, I/O, etc.)
• Develop drivers and services for constrained environments with high data throughput
• Lead hardware bring-up, peripheral drivers, silicon integration, and power/performance optimization
• Debug complex system-level issues spanning multiple layers from kernel to application
• Profile performance and drive optimizations across the software stack
• Integrate components from multiple partner teams into a unified code base
• Develop firmware for devices with sensing, imaging, haptic, and audio prototypes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on wireless stacks (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, UWB)
• Enhance systems with wireless interfaces and support QA/manufacturing teams
