Job summary

Thermon in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to join our R&D Controls and Accessories Team and help build the next generation of industrial control hardware and IIoT devices.

You will own firmware from schematic review through production release, collaborating with hardware engineers and implementing RTOS-based firmware, protocols, and interfaces across industrial environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of embedded firmware experience on production hardware.
• Proficient in C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers; Python for test.
• Experience with RTOS environments (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and GUI toolkits.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production-quality firmware for industrial control devices.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers during schematic review, board bring-up and design validation.
• Debug hardware-firmware interaction issues at the signal level using oscilloscope/logic analyzers.
• Implement real-time control loops, watchdog circuits and safe operating state machines.
• Integrate support for industrial protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, CAN Bus, MQTT, RS-485) and interfaces (Ethernet, USB, 2.4GHz wireless).
• Develop FAT tooling and production test firmware; manage firmware releases via version control.
• Contribute to system documentation and architectural clarity.
• Drive best practices through code reviews and mentorship on cross-functional teams.
