Job summary

Westlock Controls is seeking an Electronics Firmware Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for industrial automation products. You will work with hardware, software, and product teams across the lifecycle from concept through certification and production release, ensuring secure and reliable operation in hazardous environments.

The role covers firmware for microcontrollers, drivers, communication stacks (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Modbus), RTOS, and embedded Linux, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 1-3 years of experience developing embedded firmware or software.
• Experience programming in C and/or C++ for embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller and microprocessor-based products.
• Develop software applications and embedded solutions using C, C++, Python, Bash, and related technologies.
• Implement device drivers, communication protocols, bootloaders, and real-time control algorithms.
• Develop solutions for RTOS and embedded Linux environments, including FreeRTOS, ThreadX, and Linux.
• Optimize firmware for performance, memory utilization, power consumption, reliability, and maintainability.
• Support secure boot, secure firmware updates, OTA update mechanisms, and product cybersecurity initiatives.
