Job summary

Curtiss-Wright is seeking a Lead Software Engineer-Embedded Computing Software to drive architecture, design, and testing of complex embedded software for defense-grade products in Ashburn, Virginia.

The role requires 8–12+ years of experience, a DoD clearance, and deep expertise in C/C++, Linux, VxWorks, and embedded toolchains. You will lead technical directions, guide engineers, and ensure quality across the full software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and active DoD clearance required.
• 8–12+ years of progressive software development experience.
• 5+ years of software development with 4+ years in software project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Analyze product plans and generate software specifications and requirements for new or enhanced products.
• Contribute to bids and proposals with engineering labor and material estimates.
• Collaborate with systems engineering and hardware teams to craft sustainable software solutions.
• Plan, design, develop and test embedded software for embedded systems per specs and standards.
• Implement and integrate bootloaders, device drivers, and embedded test software.
• Diagnose advanced defects with cross-functional teams and resolve issues.
• Evaluate customer-reported issues and implement software improvements.
• Develop software design and test documentation and user manuals.
