Job summary

Blue Origin, in the Emerging Systems unit, seeks a Senior Embedded Software Developer to lead multi-threaded C/C++ software on Linux/RTOS for satellite payloads and ground gateways. You will mentor juniors, drive testing, and collaborate with hardware teams on high-speed data paths.

Applicants must have a strong track record in embedded systems, real-time software, and Agile methods, with on-site work in the Seattle Bay Area. Relocation assistance is available as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded software development in C/C++ on Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal.
• Strong proficiency in C++ object-oriented design and implementation.
• Hands-on debugging with JTAG, SWD, CoreSight, Lauterbach/Trace32, J-Link, J-Trace.
• Experience with SPI, I3C, I2C, PCIe, CAN peripherals.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and TDD.
• Experience leading software teams and mentoring juniors.
• Experience with Agile or Scaled Agile development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen/national or legal resident.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop multi-threaded embedded software in C/C++ for Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal on multi-core SoCs.
• Implement device drivers and data-plane functions for Satellite RF, Antenna and Optical systems on TeraWave.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware.
• Contribute to documentation, code reviews and design discussions.
• Troubleshoot issues using telemetry, logs, traces and debugging tools.
• Champion CI/CD, testing automation and TDD practices.
• Deliver with speed and quality and mentor junior engineers.
