Job summary

Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) seeks a Device Software Development Engineer to design embedded software for satellite and ground systems. You will work on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms and collaborate with hardware, systems, and product teams to deliver secure, high-performance solutions.

This role involves mentoring engineers, conducting design reviews, and ensuring software quality while enabling secure government-grade communications for U.S. and allied missions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming in at least one major language.
• 5+ years of leading design, architecture, or system scaling.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering lead.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for satellite and ground systems.
• Use Embedded Linux and RTOS frameworks to build scalable, high-performance software.
• Implement and integrate data processing, device control, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP).
• Debug hardware-software integration issues with tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure hardware-software interaction and system reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold software quality standards.
