Job summary

Blue Origin in the Greater Seattle area is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, and verify embedded software for mission-critical spaceflight systems. You will work closely with avionics hardware engineers on BSPs, boot, and fault tolerance.

The role emphasizes hands-on debugging with hardware tools, reading datasheets, and optimizing performance while coordinating with cross-functional teams across multiple embedded projects.

Qualifications

• BS in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of embedded software experience.
• Strong C/C++/Rust with Linux scripting; strong debugging with GDB, logic analyzers, memory/probing.
• Experience with Git; kernel/driver development.

Responsibilities

• Develop BSP software for new hardware, including driver development.
• Bare-metal or OS-level programming for hardware init, control, data processing, and networking.
• Debug avionics spaceflight hardware with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG.
• Benchmark hardware performance and analyze results.
• Bring up HW accelerators in modern SoCs (encoders, decoders, DSP cores).
• Define embedded software interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, TCP/IP, UDP, SpaceWire, AXI/AMBA).
• Develop boot and fault-tolerance strategies; publish internal documents.
