Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer for mission-critical spaceflight systems in our California avionics group. You will design, implement, and verify embedded software, create BSPs, and drive driver development for new hardware in a hardware-heavy software role.

You will work closely with avionics hardware teams, perform deep debugging with HW tools, and contribute to performance benchmarking and RTL/SoC accelerator bring-up. Remote work is not specified.

Qualifications

• BS in computer engineering, CS, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years embedded software experience.
• Strong C/C++/Rust with Linux scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and verify embedded software for spaceflight systems.
• Develop BSP software and device drivers for new hardware.
• Bare-metal and OS-level programming for init, control, data processing, networking.
• Debug with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG.
• Collaborate with HW engineers on HW/SW partitioning.
• Benchmark and characterize hardware performance.
• Bring up hardware accelerators in SoC (encoders, decoders, image processing).
• Scripting and Linux development with development kits.
• Define embedded SW interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, TCP/IP, SpaceWire, Aurora, AXI/AMBA).
