Eight Sleep, Inc. in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to help bring current and next-generation Pod hardware to life.

You will design, implement, and maintain system software for embedded devices with high autonomy and direct impact on our sleep fitness platform. This full-time role focuses on Embedded Linux, secure boot, and trusted execution environments, with collaboration across manufacturing and global teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years firmware and system software development with C/C++.
• Deep Embedded Linux experience with Yocto/Bitbake and systemd.
• Secure software development for IoT and embedded systems.
• Experience optimizing compute workloads in constrained environments.

Responsibilities

• Embedded Linux Development: design, develop, and maintain system software for the Pod.
• Platform Security Engineering: own security for the embedded Linux platform.
• Secure Boot and Chain of Trust: implement end-to-end secure boot and key management.
• Security and Trust: build device trust primitives and secure services.
• Manufacturing and Deployment: collaborate with global teams to enable production tests.
• Craftsmanship and Detail: ensure robust, well-documented software.
