Job summary

Wabtec is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, develop, integrate, test, demonstrate, and maintain embedded software for LOCOTROL remote control locomotives, towers, and distributed power portfolios. You will work in C/C++ on diverse embedded platforms, collaborating with PMs, systems engineers, and test teams to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years embedded software development in RTOS/bare metal environments.
• Experience in C/C++ for multi-process/multi-threaded applications.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
• Willing to travel 10% of time.
• Experience in Agile development (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience with ColdFire, ARM and/or PowerPC in C/C++.
• Experience with TCP/IP, UDP, RS232/RS422, HDLC, SPI, I2C, CAN.
• Experience with RTOS (Green Hills INTEGRITY).
• Experience with SCM tools SVN or GIT.
• Experience with SW analysis tools (Klocwork, Understand, PC-Lint) and unit test tools (VectorCAST).
• Experience with high-reliability, safety, redundant fail-safe designs.
• Experience with industry standards (IEC 61508, DO-178B, CEnelec-50128).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software components and systems for LOCOTROL portfolios.
• Provide technical mentoring for junior engineers.
• Design and implement software for embedded systems from requirements to production deployment.
• Program in C and C++ across applications, components and interfaces.
• Maintain and enhance software in existing embedded products and systems.
• Collaborate with business unit to meet product specifications.
• Coordinate with other engineering teams to satisfy system interfaces.
• Design, implement, and test software; ensure quality specs are met.
• Participate in design and code reviews; drive performance and reliability enhancements.
• Interact with customers and partners during development and deployment phases.
• Develop documentation including SW design, requirements, and architectures.
