Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Mayfield Heights, OH. You will design, develop, and test embedded software for PLCs in a hybrid work model.

The role requires strong C++ and Python skills, experience with embedded systems, and Agile practices within a Scaled Agile Framework. You will mentor team members, contribute to automated testing, and help drive tool and process improvements across the global development organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in embedded software
• Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS is preferred
• Experience developing automated tests with Python and C++
• Experience with open source tools such as Git and Jenkins

Responsibilities

• Develop safety- and security-critical embedded software for new Programmable Logic Controllers
• Work across hardware and software environments including SoCs
• Build and maintain automated tests for new and existing features
• Promote CI/CD practices and tools across the organization
• Demonstrate strong OO programming concepts using C++ and Python
• Participate in Agile development within a Scaled Agile Framework
• Implement controller features and guide the team
• Mentor less experienced personnel and encourage knowledge sharing
