Job summary

ebm-papst is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Developer in Farmington, CT. You will develop and port embedded software for ebm-papst electronics and e-drive platforms across the Americas, aligning with corporate architecture and standards.

The role involves adapting firmware to local MCUs, implementing hardware-near functions, and ensuring integration with diagnostics, production test, and service data. Strong C/C++ skills and a track record in motor drives or automation are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of embedded software development experience in industrial products.
• Hands-on embedded C/C++ on microcontroller platforms with drivers and real-time behavior.
• Experience porting firmware to new MCUs and memory constraints.
• Familiar with BSPs, modular firmware integration and maintainability.
• Knowledge of MODBUS, Ethernet, MQTT, REST APIs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, adapt and maintain embedded application software for ebm-papst electronics and e-drive platforms in the Americas.
• Apply defined software architecture, reusable modules and interface standards for regional projects.
• Port existing firmware to local microcontrollers, incl. peripheral mapping and bootloader integration.
• Implement hardware-near software functions using UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, GPIO and other peripherals.
• Write and integrate features for diagnostics, service data, bootload/update behavior and test support.
• Support integration of MODBUS RTU/TCP, MQTT, REST APIs and other industrial interfaces.
• Use Git, CMake, Linux/Docker, VS Code; perform debugging, reviews and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with architecture, hardware, motor control, production and QA teams; provide senior guidance.
