Job summary

Emerson's New Product Development team in Marshalltown, Iowa is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer or Firmware Engineer to design and develop firmware for microcontroller-based systems used in electric actuation platforms.

You will work with cross-functional teams to bring products from concept to production, ensuring safety, reliability, and performance in demanding industrial environments. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or CS.
• Professional experience developing embedded software for microcontroller-based systems.
• Strong programming skills in C and C++.
• Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based products.
• Ability to read schematics and datasheets.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and debug firmware for microcontroller-based systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, manufacturing, and engineering teams.
• Develop solutions that meet high reliability and low-power constraints.
• Perform code reviews and support quality initiatives.
• Troubleshoot firmware and embedded system issues.
• Support product validation, verification, and production readiness.
• Research emerging embedded technologies and industry trends.
• Participate in project planning and continuous improvement.
• Support Emerson's electric actuation portfolio long-term.
