Job summary

General Motors is seeking an embedded software engineer to prototype and execute tasks across the full SDLC, focusing on embedded C and AUTOSAR compliant infrastructure. You will lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with Systems, Safety, Electrical Architecture, and Cybersecurity to deliver robust ECU software.

The role requires five years of embedded software experience, experience with IBM Synergy, Lauterbach, ETAS INCA, CANalyzer, and related lab tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
• Five years of experience as Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, or related role.

Responsibilities

• Prototype and execute software tasks across the full software lifecycle.
• Design, develop, implement and debug embedded C software.
• Lead cross-functional teams for embedded controls software across HWIO, BSW, complex drivers, SUMs.
• Test and demonstrate functionality in prototype benches; ensure reusable solutions across GM software.
• Document design requirements and link to test cases; use automated test tools in build environments.
• Coordinate with Systems, Safety, Electrical Architecture, Cybersecurity, SDV, Calibration and Vehicle Performance teams.
• Support root cause analysis and debugging; lead supplier meetings for ECU solutions.
• Drive software quality improvements and maintainability.

Job DescriptionDUTIES: Prototyping and executing software tasks spanning the entire software development lifecycle, such as requirements analysis, design coding, support of defect resolution, and production release. Design, develop, implement, and debug software in embedded C. Lead cross functional teams in the design, creation and deliver software for embedded controls systems for the infrastructure layers including HWIO, BSW, Complex Drivers, SUMs, and other. Test and demonstrate software functionality and readiness in prototype benches. Ensure common solutions across all GM owned software. Document requirements for design solution and link them to test cases that can demonstrate software functionality. Utilize automated test tools in build environments and benches to verify functionality of the developed software. Coordinate and collaborate with specialized teams such as Systems, Safety, Electrical Architecture, Cybersecurity, Software Defined Vehicle, Calibration and Vehicle Performance. Support of root cause analysis and debugging. Collaborate and lead meetings with suppliers to develop micro, peripheral, and ECU specific solutions for new technology. Lead software quality improvements to determine if restructuring is needed to improve quality, maintainability, reusability, or other software improvements. Troubleshoot code to resolve design deficiencies and develop solutions to resolve them.
