Job summary

Caterpillar in Illinois is seeking a skilled C++ software engineer to develop collision mitigation systems for a Linux environment. You will design, implement, and validate camera- and radar-based perception features, enhancing machine awareness and operator safety.

You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver autonomy-related capabilities, applying ADAS and ROS/ROS2 principles. This onsite role is based in Mossville, IL or Irving, TX, with up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

Strong C++ development experience in Linux.
Experience with camera-based perception systems.
Experience with radar or collision avoidance systems.
Experience with Automotive ADAS.
Familiarity with ROS and/or ROS2 frameworks.
Knowledge of analytical thinking techniques and tools.
Knowledge of software development tools and activities.
Must work full-time onsite five days a week at Mossville, IL or Irving, TX offices.
Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Requirements

Strong experience developing C++ applications in a Linux environment
Background working with camera-based perception systems, computer vision technologies, or sensor integration
Experience with radar technologies, object detection, or collision avoidance systems
Experience with Automotive ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
Familiarity with ROS and/or ROS2 frameworks
Knowledge of analytical thinking techniques and tools
Knowledge of technical applications and ability to resolve significant technical challenges
