Job summary

Fidus Systems seeks a Senior Embedded Software Designer to drive embedded software across communication, networking, and video apps, including BSP-level Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal solutions.

You will lead architecture, mentor teams, and coordinate HW/SW/FPGA integration with customers, using C/C++ and scripting while staying current with emerging tech. This role is fully remote with travel, and offers challenging projects across cutting-edge domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering or computer science degree with strong fundamentals.
• 8+ years BSP-level software development experience in embedded Linux/RTOS/bare-metal environments.
• 2+ years in technical leadership, architecture, and direction-setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to embedded software projects, focusing on communication, networking, and video applications.
• Develop and maintain BSP-level software for embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal systems.
• Implement device drivers, manage kernel configurations, and use build systems like Yocto or PetaLinux.
• Design and debug software for FPGA SoCs, integrating with hardware and other system components.
• Collaborate on HW/SW/FPGA integration, interpreting schematics/datasheets for robust functionality.
• Use oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for debugging and optimization.
• Define architecture and set technical direction for projects.
• Lead project teams and mentor multiple designers for high-quality outcomes.
• Work closely with customers to understand requirements and exceed expectations.
• Adopt best design practices for maintainable, high-quality code.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and bring innovative solutions to teams.
