Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior Embedded Software Developer to own architecture and deliver multi-threaded embedded software for space payloads and ground terminals. You will collaborate across hardware and systems teams, define scaling and fault-tolerance strategies, and drive CI/CD and testing practices.

The role requires 7+ years in embedded development, strong C++ OO design, and extensive debugging experience on Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal platforms. Relocation may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Computer Engineering, CS, or EE required.
• 7+ years embedded software experience in C/C++ on Linux/RTOS/Bare-metal.
• Strong C++ OO design and implementation skills.
• Hands-on embedded debugging with JTAG, SWD, CoreSight, Lauterbach/Trace32, J-Link, J-Trace.
• Experience with Linux networking and inter-core communications on data-plane interfaces.
• Experience leading software teams and mentoring engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen/national or eligible to work in U.S.

Responsibilities

• Own software architecture and design for one or more system areas.
• Collaborate with hardware, silicon and systems engineering teams.
• Lead multi-threaded embedded software development for space payloads and ground terminals.
• Define strategies for scaling, fault-tolerance and recovery.
• Set KPIs and optimize compute, memory, storage, network I/O.
• Contribute to technical docs, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Champion best practices in CI/CD, testing, and data analysis.
• Mentor a team of skilled engineers and drive technical excellence.
