Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design and optimize firmware for next-generation satellite user terminals in a demanding, safety-focused environment. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, implementing robust bare-metal or RTOS-based firmware for high-speed communications systems and RF hardware.

The role requires deep expertise in C/C++, RTOS, and embedded Linux, with experience in secure boot and over-the-air updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related field.
• 7+ years embedded software experience in high-speed systems.
• Expert-level C/C++ for embedded platforms; RTOS and Linux experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement modular embedded firmware for microcontrollers, FPGAs, or SoCs.
• Develop low-level drivers (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe, Ethernet) for transceivers and RF front-ends.
• Optimize protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, VLAN) for ultra-low latency and high throughput.
• Create secure bootloaders and OTA firmware update mechanisms.
