Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Senior Embedded Safety Engineer to own hardware‑safety and power‑management software for safety‑critical platforms. You’ll design safe‑state strategies, implement low‑level drivers, and drive ISO 26262‑compliant diagnostics in FreeRTOS/SafeRTOS environments.

Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and collaborate with hardware teams on PMIC sequencing, watchdog timing, and fault tolerance. Expertise in ARM Cortex‑R5F, HAL design, and advanced debugging is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS, Robotics or related field with 4+ years of experience (or advanced degrees).
• Proven embedded C/C++ development experience with strong memory management and no-exceptions constraints.
• Deep understanding of ARM Cortex‑R5F architecture, memory-mapped I/O, and interrupt controllers.
• Experience configuring MPUs and hardware firewalls for isolation in safety‑critical environments.
• Experience building or refactoring Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL) for multiple targets.
• Strong diagnostic capabilities and ISO 26262 know‑how.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end hardware safety and power management architecture and safety concepts.
• Develop and integrate low‑level drivers for PMICs, voltage sensors, and thermal monitors.
• Lead safety diagnostic framework integration (LBIST/PBIST/ECC) and ensure coverage maps to safety goals.
• Perform deep‑dive code reviews across hardware safety modules and enforce clean interfaces and testability.
• Mentor engineers on embedded safety patterns, traceability, and ISO 26262 compliance.
