Job summary

FORT Robotics seeks an Embedded Software Engineer II to own components of the embedded stack, writing robust C/C++ firmware for safety-critical devices. You will work in RTOS environments (Zephyr/FreeRTOS) and on bare-metal targets, moving between constrained real-time targets and embedded Linux.

A strong focus on safety and performance is required. You will design drivers, integrate with Linux user-space, and help shape CI/CD pipelines, with hands-on hardware bring-up and debugging using

Qualifications

• 3–5 years hands-on embedded software development on RTOS or bare-metal.
• Strong C and working C++ proficiency.
• Experience with RTOS like Zephyr or FreeRTOS including scheduling and interrupts.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust C/C++ firmware for safety-critical embedded devices.
• Architect RTOS-based firmware on Zephyr and FreeRTOS with deterministic timing.
• Develop bare-metal drivers and board support from reset to running app.
• Interface RTOS devices with Embedded Linux user-space applications.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and on-target test workflows, including HIL.
• Bring up new hardware, debug with JTAG/GDB, optimize latency and power.
• Collaborate with safety personnel to meet IEC 61508 standards.
