Job summary

FORT Robotics seeks an Embedded Software Engineer II to own components of our embedded stack, working close to hardware on real-time firmware for safety devices. You will operate in RTOS environments (Zephyr/FreeRTOS) and bare-metal targets, and collaborate with Embedded Linux for cross-boundary work.

You will build robust C/C++ firmware, design RTOS architectures, write low-level drivers, and ensure reliable communication with Linux applications.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years hands-on embedded software development.
• Proficient in C; working knowledge of C++.
• Experience with Zephyr or FreeRTOS, or similar RTOS.
• MCU peripherals, datasheets, reference manuals, startup code.
• Experience with Embedded Linux user-space development.
• Familiarity with IP networking protocols and interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, USB, CAN).
• Python for scripting and CI/CD workflows.
• Debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and GDB.

Responsibilities

• Build robust C/C++ firmware for safety-critical devices.
• Design RTOS-based firmware on Zephyr/FreeRTOS.
• Write low-level drivers and bring up silicon from reset to running application.
• Interface RTOS devices with Embedded Linux applications.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
