Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with Rust expertise to develop safety-rated firmware for autonomous robots. You will work on embedded firmware across multi-core platforms, integrating sensor processing pipelines and real-time safety features.

Role involves crossing RTOS and Linux boundaries on the same chip, collaborating with hardware, safety, and navigation teams to meet IEC 61508 certification requirements. Strong C/C++ and Rust skills are valued.

Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
Proficiency in embedded development in Rust; alternatively, strong C/C++ embedded experience with demonstrated willingness and ability to work in Rust.
Experience with sensor data acquisition or signal processing (cameras, LiDAR, time-of-flight, or similar).

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain safety-rated embedded firmware in Rust on heterogeneous multi-core platforms.
Work across the full sensor processing pipeline from driver integration to real-time collision detection.
Design and implement perception features under IEC 61508 certification constraints.
Contribute to system interfaces and tooling (gRPC/protobuf APIs, CLI tools, visualization).
Produce design documents and safety analysis artifacts for third-party certification.
Debug issues end-to-end on real robots at test facilities and production.
