Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with embedded development experience to join our team in El Segundo, CA. You will architect, develop, integrate, and verify high‑reliability embedded software for aerospace and defense systems, providing technical leadership across the software lifecycle.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and ensure software meets performance, cybersecurity, and safety requirements, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams and program

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 8+ years of software experience.
• Experience in C and C++ including embedded and real‑time development.
• Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks) including scheduling, drivers, task management, semaphores, and queues.
• Experience using GitLab for version control, CI/CD, or DevOps.
• Active and transferable U.S. Government issued Secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, integrate, and verify high‑reliability embedded and real‑time software.
• Provide guidance across the software lifecycle and influence system architecture decisions.
• Lead design reviews and ensure software meets performance, cybersecurity, and safety requirements.
• Lead system bring‑up and integration on ARM‑based processor platforms.
• Develop technical documentation, ICDs, and test plans.
• Drive testing and validation across unit, integration, hardware‑in‑the‑loop, and full system evaluations.
