Job summary

HRL Laboratories, an IBM company, is seeking a seasoned engineer to design, implement, and test embedded control for RF systems across communications, radar, and EW domains. You will collaborate with scientists to deliver state‑of‑the‑art RF subsystems and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Required BS/MS in ECE, 7+ years in embedded development, and experience with HDL/C/C++/Python, Git/GitLab, and RF test equipment. Willingness to travel and engage with customers is expected.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in low-level embedded programming.
• HDL (Verilog/VHDL, HLS) and software experience (C/C++, Python).
• Experience with Git/GitLab and software development best practices (CI/CD, MR, code reviews).
• RF and high-speed digital test equipment experience; test automation a plus.
• Familiarity with Xilinx SoCs, FPGA/DSP/MCU families is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute technical expertise within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates, and tests RF/EM components below 0.1 to 200+ GHz.
• Develop embedded control for RF system development and subsystems.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers on state-of-the-art RF subsystems for comms, radar, and EW.
• Mentor junior engineers and document best practices; contribute to proposals and customer briefings.
