Job summary

HRL Laboratories, an IBM company, is seeking a candidate to design, fabricate and test RF/millimeter wave subsystems in a fast-paced environment in California. You will work closely with scientists and engineers to deliver state-of-the-art RF subsystems for communication, radar and sensing applications.

The role requires a Master's or Bachelor’s with 2+ years of experience, strong modeling skills, and familiarity with Python, C and MATLAB.

Essential Duties

• Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates and tests RF and millimeter wave subsystems.
• Work closely with scientists and engineers to provide support in developing state of the art RF subsystems for communication, radar and sensing applications.
• Additional job functions include: solving customer problems, writing invention disclosures, publishing papers, briefing customers, participating in proposal activities and assisting in marketing HRL expertise.

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience
• Some experience with modeling and simulating electronic components, RF electronics and circuits is desired.
• Experience with different families of FPGAs, DSPs, or microcontrollers is desired.
• A working familiarity with Python, C and MATLAB. Simulink is a plus.
• Understanding of basic circuit theory, electromagnetics, and digital signal processing.
• Familiarity with RF and high-speed digital test equipment.
• Working knowledge of RF components for communication and radar systems is a plus.
• Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, customers
• Ability to operate complex electronic equipment
• Perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits and prepare written and oral presentations.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.

Physical Requirements

• Proficiency in use of computers, engineering workstations, complex electronic equipment, oral and written communication, interaction with vendors/colleagues and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.
• Ability and willingness to travel 20% of time.

Special Requirements

• U.S. Citizen is required.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance desired.

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Range: $105,700 - $132,200

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location (California). The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target range for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
