Job summary

RTX is seeking an embedded radar software engineer to design, implement, and test software for the F/A-18 APG-79 radar system in El Segundo. You will deliver builds, assist hardware integration, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to evolve the software baseline.

The role requires a STEM degree and about five years of related experience, with C/C++/Ada proficiency and RTOS knowledge. U.S. citizenship with a Secret clearance is required, and DevOps/CI‑CD experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a STEM field and typically five years of relevant software experience are required.
Development experience in C, C++, Ada, or related languages is required.
Experience with an operating system such as UNIX, Linux, Windows, VxWorks, or another RTOS is required.
U.S. citizens with an active, transferable Secret clearance before starting; radar, embedded software, signal processing, DevOps, and CI/CD experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, troubleshoot, and test software for the F/A-18 APG-79 airborne radar, including delivering software builds and supporting integration on hardware.
Collaborate across engineering disciplines to implement system modifications, support development and production roadmap activities, and maintain software documentation and quality.
