Job summary

ALSO in Silicon Valley seeks an Embedded OTA Validation & Tools Engineer to own validation, automation, and operational readiness for firmware and software update delivery across our embedded fleet.

You will design and run validation tests for OTA updates, build scalable testbeds, automate end-to-end pipelines with Python and CI tools, and work across Firmware, Release, QA, and Cloud teams to ensure robustness and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years validating embedded devices and firmware updates (OTA or similar).
• Strong Python and C/C++ for embedded debugging.
• Understanding of embedded Linux/RTOS, bootloaders, and A/B updates.
• Experience building automated test harnesses and CI integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and execute OTA validation plans across device families.
• Build and scale automated testbeds (hardware-in-the-loop, emulators) for regression and stress tests.
• Automate end-to-end OTA pipelines using Python, shell, and CI tools.
• Validate bootloader, update agent, package formats, rollbacks, and recovery modes.
• Test update resilience under intermittent networks, power faults, and delays.
• Ensure security: signing, TLS, PKI, secure boot, and key management.
• Define KPIs and report rollout health for release readiness.
• Root cause analysis on failed updates and remediation with teams.
• Maintain lab hardware and testing stacks (JTAG, serial, probes).
• Contribute to OTA process improvements and runbooks.
