Job summary

Bonsai Robotics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Platform to own the embedded Linux platform for our field fleet. You’ll work from bootloader up to a cloud dashboard, handling OTA updates, device provisioning, and observability across diverse hardware.

The role emphasizes Yocto, kernel/device-tree work, and end-to-end release tooling, with hybrid work options and strong collaboration with firmware and field operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience in embedded Linux, infrastructure, or robotics platform engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in CS and systems fluency.
• Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded or Buildroot and kernel/device tree work.

Responsibilities

• Own OTA updates end to end across the fleet, including image build, signing, rollout, rollback, and delivery to embedded controllers.
• Manage fleet provisioning, device identity, secrets, remote access, and live software inventory.
• Build observability for distributed devices with telemetry, metrics, logs, and health signals to cloud dashboards.
• Own the OS layer with Yocto-based BSP, kernel, device tree, services, and reproducible builds.
• Design build/release infrastructure for embedded targets, including cross-compilation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with firmware, autonomy, and field ops to align release requirements across robot form factors.
