Job summary

Bonsai Robotics is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Platform to own the embedded Linux platform for our field fleet. You’ll manage OTA updates, fleet provisioning, and the observability stack from bootloader to cloud dashboard.

This is a high-impact role in a hybrid environment, enabling remote updates and robust field operations. You’ll work across Yocto BSPs, kernel configurations, and release pipelines, collaborating with firmware, autonomy, and field teams to deliver reliable

Qualifications

• 5+ years in embedded Linux, robotics platform engineering
• Strong proficiency in Rust, C/C++, Python
• Experience with OTA systems and A/B partitioning
• Experience building embedded Linux distributions (Yocto/OpenEmbedded)
• Strong debugging from kernel to cloud metrics

Responsibilities

• Own OTA updates end to end across the fleet, including image build, signing, rollout, rollback, and delivery to Linux modules and CAN controllers
• Own fleet management infrastructure: device identity, provisioning, configuration, secrets, remote access
• Build observability stack for distributed fleet with telemetry, metrics, logs, and health signals to the cloud
• Own the OS layer: BSP maintenance, kernel and device tree config, system services, boot and recovery paths
• Design and maintain build/release infrastructure for embedded targets: cross-compilation, CI/CD, artifact mgmt
• Collaborate with firmware, autonomy, and field ops to define integration/release requirements
• Bring up new hardware and tooling to unblock field deployments
