Job summary

Blue Origin in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join the Software Engineering team supporting TeraWave aboard LEO satellites. You will build the foundational platform infrastructure, focusing on embedded Linux and low-level system software used across satellites and ground terminals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or 10+ years software development experience.
• 8+ years of C/C++ experience in Linux or embedded environments.
• Deep Linux kernel knowledge, including driver development, memory management, and system-level debugging.
• Experience with system-level debugging tools such as GDB, perf, and eBPF.
• Experience with Buildroot, Yocto, Bazel, or comparable build systems.
• U.S. citizen or eligible national or permanent resident.

Responsibilities

• Design core Linux platform infrastructure, including process management and IPC frameworks.
• Develop and maintain Linux kernel modules and drivers for custom hardware.
• Modify kernel subsystems to improve scheduling, memory management, and I/O performance.
• Collaborate with silicon, electrical, and RF teams to bring up hardware prototypes.
• Debug system-level performance issues and optimize networking for satellite links.
• Implement secure boot and hardware-backed credential management.
• Own the complete software lifecycle from architecture to deployment on LEO satellites.
