Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain embedded Linux software used in production vehicle systems. You will work with Yocto-based Linux distributions and modern C/C++ applications, including Qt-based user interfaces and automated testing.

The role covers the full software lifecycle from architecture to release management, with emphasis on diagnosing complex issues across applications, OS services, libraries, and hardware

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Five (5) or more years of professional software development experience.
• Strong C and C++ software development experience.
• Experience developing for Linux or embedded Linux systems.
• Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded/BitBake.
• Experience with Qt (Qt 6.8 or newer preferred).
• Experience with Python for tooling and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain production-quality software for embedded Linux platforms.
• Develop maintainable C/C++ applications, services, and user interfaces using modern C++ and Qt 6+.
• Maintain embedded Linux platforms using Yocto, OpenEmbedded, and related BSPs/layers/recipes.
• Support platform lifecycle activities including migrations, updates, and toolchain changes.
• Diagnose complex issues across apps, OS, libraries, and hardware interfaces.
• Support software integration and validation on target hardware and development environments.
• Develop automated unit/integration/tests using GoogleTest/CppUnit/Squish.
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines for builds, tests, packaging, and releases.
• Collaborate across software, electrical, controls, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and suppliers.
