Job summary

Spectrum Control is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to design and deploy embedded Linux systems and supporting software for ARM-based products. You will develop high-quality C/C++ code, drive Yocto-based builds, and implement networking and test-automation components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of embedded software development.
• Expert-level knowledge of Linux and Yocto build system (custom layers/recipes, BSP, kernel, device trees, U-Boot).
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and computer architecture.
• Strong C/C++ skills for ARM-based processors (cross-compilation, interfaces SPI/I2C/UART, debugging with JTAG/GDB).
• Strong scripting in Python and Bash for build automation/test tooling.
• Experience with embedded Linux for FPGA SoCs preferred (Altera/AMD).
• Experience with C#/.NET for test apps preferred.
• Experience with SCPI over VISA for test automation preferred.
• Knowledge of embedded security (secure boot, encrypted FS, signed updates) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy the Linux OS using Yocto Build Flow.
• Maintain software revisions and deployment using Git and Docker.
• Develop embedded C/C++ software for ARM processors.
• Develop computer networking software infrastructure.
• Develop automated test software in C# to control RF instruments and collect data.
• Utilize AI tools to enhance productivity and problem solving.
• Derive requirements and verification methods for embedded systems.
• Produce detailed documentation and provide internal/external support.
