Job summary

Oshkosh seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain embedded Linux software for production vehicle systems. You will work on Yocto-based distributions, modern C/C++ applications, Qt-based interfaces, and build/test automation while improving platform lifecycle processes.

The role requires strong C/C++ expertise, embedded Linux experience, and the ability to diagnose across software, OS, libraries, and hardware interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong C and C++ software development in Linux/embedded Linux.
• Experience with modern C++ and object-oriented design.
• Experience in multithreaded/asynchronous software development.
• Professional experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded/BitBake.
• Experience building custom Yocto layers, recipes, and embedded images.
• Proven Qt/QML development for embedded/production systems.
• Experience with Linux development and debugging tools.
• Experience using Git and collaborative workflows.
• Experience developing automated tests (unit/integration).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test, and maintain production-quality software for embedded Linux platforms.
• Develop maintainable C/C++ applications, services, and user interfaces using modern C++ and Qt 6.8+.
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux platforms using Yocto, OpenEmbedded, and BitBake components.
• Support platform lifecycle activities including Linux/Qt migrations and security updates.
• Diagnose complex issues across applications, OS, and hardware boundaries.
• Support software integration and validation on target hardware and development environments.
• Develop automated tests (unit/integration/system) using appropriate frameworks.
• Contribute to software architecture, requirements, and design documentation.
• Lead and participate in code/design reviews and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and code-review support.
